Andrew Vartan is the founder and CEO of Sweep, an app that turns everyday spare change into bitcoin in a wallet only you control. A senior program manager turned founder, with more than 20 years in technology and recent experience on Australia's national real-time payments system, Andrew built Sweep as a solo father who wanted to teach his two daughters how money works.

Andrew Vartan is the founder and CEO of Sweep IP Pty Ltd, the company behind Sweep, an app that rounds up everyday purchases and saves the spare change as bitcoin in a wallet only the customer controls.

Andrew has spent more than 20 years delivering complex technology programs across banking, telecommunications, government and health. He started out building networks and data centres, then moved into systems integration and program management, leading work in network engineering, cloud, cyber security and large-scale data migration.

Few founders come to fintech with Andrew's background. His recent work on Australia's national real-time payments system gives him a rare, first-hand understanding of how money actually moves between banks, and what it takes to build something people can trust with it. That shapes how Sweep is built.

The idea for Sweep came from an Instagram video on 2 October 2025. A solo father of two daughters, Andrew wanted to teach them about saving, inflation and bitcoin, not with a lecture but with a product. A year later, Sweep runs on iPhone and Android, with a patent-pending way of saving around the pay cycle.

Andrew is based on the Central Coast of New South Wales.
